Sonja graduated from the University of Port Elizabeth with her B.Proc degree in 2000.
In 2001 she enrolled for Articles of Clerkship at Raymond Bojanic Attorneys and in 2002 she ceded Articles of Clerkship to Friedman Scheckter Attorneys. She completed her Articles of Clerkship at Joubert Galpin and Searle in 2003.
She was admitted to practice as an Attorney in September 2003, a Notary Public in June 2004 and a Conveyancer in June 2006.
She practised as an Equity Director at Joubert Galpin Searle from April 2003 until May 2009. She was the first black Equity Director and the second female Equity Director to ever be appointed at Joubert Galpin Searle.
She joined Boqwana Loon & Connellan as a Conveyancer from June 2009 and is currently a Director as well.
She is a Member of the Cape Law Society, Port Elizabeth Attorneys Association and Business Woman's Association. In 2008 she won the BWA Regional Business Achiever Award in the Professional category.
