BLC attorneys had the pleasure of hosting Dawn Nathan-Jones as our guest speaker at our now infamous coffee morning.
An entrepreneur, Shark and accomplished businesswoman, Dawn Nathan-Jones is passionate about contributing to the economic growth of South Africa. Following an illustrious 35 year career in business, Dawn has embarked on a new journey to assist ambitious young entrepreneurs build their fledgling businesses into successful enterprises.
Dawn is investing her time in imparting her knowledge of processes and structures of building efficient and profitable businesses. A huge part of the growth in the country’s economy, Dawn believes, will come from cultivating a culture of entrepreneurship amongst the youth.
Her involvement as a Shark on M-Net and Telkom South Africa’s exciting new Sunday night reality show Shark Tank South Africa, is part of teaching business lessons to entrepreneurs. A dynamic leader, entrepreneur, and astute business woman Dawn wants to leave a legacy of social entrepreneurship with heart.
Dawn’s illustrious career started at the age of 21 when she joined Imperial Car founding members Carol Scott and Maureen Jackson, who identified a gap in the market and then took on other car rental giants with only five cars and plenty of passion.
Her ability to continuously innovate, re-invent and drive change later landed her the coveted position of CEO of the Imperial Group’s Car Rental Division consisting of Europcar South Africa, Europcar Van Rental, Europcar Chauffeur Service, Tempest Car Hire, Auto Pedigree, Imperial Autobody, Danmar and Gage Car Hire.
Dawn stepped down from her role as CEO at the end of 2015, after 18 years at the helm. Dawn was also instrumental in the rebranding of Imperial Holdings in 2009 as Chairman of the Imperial Brand Council. Imperial Car Rental and Europcar merged in 2007, and she was responsible for the repositioning of the car rental division and consolidation and rebranding of Imperial Car Rental to Europcar in 2009.
Dawn joined us at the Radisson Hotel on the 10th of March and shared her life business journey with us and many a story on her experience as a shark.
Our guests, which included business leaders from the Bay, aspiring entrepreuners and our many clients , were inspired by her passion and her reminder that all our dreams are valid.
